Water & Sanitation Program

Arrow Down

The Water & Sanitation Program aims to provide clean and reliable water sourcing and supply systems that meet WHO standards in the project area. Currently, there is no such system in place, and this program seeks to address this issue.

The ISEZ project development office is responsible for the physical planning, site selection, feasibility studies, and land mobilization for the water supply and sanitation systems to be developed within the project area. This will be done in partnership with the Kikori District, Gulf Provincial Government, Water PNG, and other relevant government departments and development partners.

The program will prioritize the provision of clean water and sanitation facilities to schools, hospitals, health centres, and other public institutions, as well as to the residents of the project area. The water supply system will also support the development of industries such as agriculture, fisheries, and tourism, by providing reliable and sustainable water sources.

The program will be implemented through a phased approach, with the first phase focusing on the development of water and sanitation systems in the Ihu Special Economic Zone and its surrounding areas.

Overall, the Water & Sanitation Program seeks to improve the health and well-being of the people in the Gulf Province, enhance the delivery of public services, and support the sustainable development of industries in the region.
