ISEZ and Kikori DDA continue to support the Kikori local Rugby League competition by providing them with much needed sporting gear.
Ihu Special Economic Zone and Kikori District Development Authority supports Kikori District Rugby League by presenting them with Rugby League sporting gear this evening.
Kikori has been involved in sports for many years but are lacking quality sporting gear for the competitions running in the district. Out of the many sports in Kikori, Rugby League is one of the main sport that players get recognized from by the PNGRFL, so most of the focus is in Kikori Rugby League.
Having so much talent isolated in an underdeveloped part of the district, ISEZ and Kikori DDA always try to support the district with whatever they can, and one of the areas is Sports.
In this evenings presentation, rugby balls, whistles, ball pumps, stop watchers and loud hailers were handed out. This presentation is part of a joint arrangement between ISEZ and KDDA in support of youth sports program and SME activities in Kikori District.
Attendees from the District includes, Gulf ISOU Rugby League representative Jacob Ivaroa, Kikori Rugby League Manager Lucas Temeriki, Kikori Rugby League staff representative Jim Tapara, Electorate staff member Jobson Maiari, and ISEZ CLO Jobson Junior. All were accompanied by, ISEZ Managing Director, Peter Kengemar, Minister Soroi Eoe First Secretary Steven Ilave, Project Officers Sebastian Haraha & Moses Hape, and two of ISEZs interns.
In 2021, ISEZ and Kikori DDA has distributed sports trophies across the Kikori District covering rugby, basketball, volleyball and soccer. Kikori DDA and ISEZ have presented 4 sets of Rugby League jerseys for the Orokolo Popo Rugby League Association Grand Final in 2021.
That competition is currently being played and ISEZ have sets of uniforms packed for delivery anytime from now as they are all ready for delivery. The first sets of uniforms are for the Popo Orokolo Rugby League teams and Opa Rugby League teams, which are currently running by the Hobo Youths of Opa village.
KDDA and ISEZ also have Rugby uniforms for fifteen rugby teams in Kikori Station and will soon be delivered to them. Kikori Rugby Football League is affiliated with PNG RFL and we are grateful to show our support in whatever we can for the sports community in Kikori.
Also, during the presentation of the sporting gears, the Kikori Rugby Football League has presented certificates of appreciation to ISEZ management and Kikori DDA representative for their help with trophy distribution for the Kikori Rugby League Grand Final game at Kikori in 2021.
